I’ve been playing a lot of Destiny 2 lately, ever since i heard the game was being put in what is essentially maintenance mode and the developers taking a step back with one final update.
Monument of Light is however a truly great final update for this game that i’ve come to love. It fixes a number of issues i’ve had with the game but more than anything it’s also brought back a large number of the community again and the game feels amazing to play again with so many active people.
I’ve played Destiny 2 off and on, mostly on, since early days of The Red War, the first storyline of Destiny 2. While i largely stopped actively playing the game ever since The Final Shape ended the larger storyline that Destiny 2 had been weaving for a while, i tried to dip my toes in to it on a couple of occasions. While nothing really came out of occasionally logging in and trying to see what was new, this time it feels like a great time to return.
It is a bittersweet realisation though because there’ll be no more updates outside of bug fixes or critical system updates. But the community has rallied around the game like never before, and i am thoroughly enjoying getting back into the game with them, once more raiding and finally exploring dungeons.
I don’t know how long this fun period is going to last and when i’ll finally stop playing it for the last time. Destiny 2 has been one of my all-time favourite games and it plays and feels like no other game. I’ve lost myself in the world and lore of this game so many times. However it ends, i know i’m going to enjoy the hell out of this beautiful game while i can.
